Everything You Need to Know

NAWUSA — the National Allied Workers Union of South Africa — is a registered trade union (Reg. No. LR2/6/2/3763) that serves workers across all 9 provinces in over 25 industry sectors. We provide legal protection, funeral benefits, collective bargaining, and 24/7 member support to both blue-collar and white-collar workers.
Any South African worker — full-time, part-time, or contract — can join NAWUSA. We cover manufacturing, retail, healthcare, security, hospitality, construction, transport, professional services, and many more sectors. If you are employed and have a South African ID, you qualify.
Your monthly subscription is approximately 1% of your basic salary, deducted via stop order through your employer or by debit order. In exchange, you receive full legal representation, R20,000 funeral cover, access to our 24/7 support line, collective bargaining representation, and all other member benefits. That 1% genuinely works for you.
Legal representation and member support begin immediately upon successful application. Funeral cover through Sanlam is activated after your first successful stop order deduction. A NAWUSA officer will contact you within 48 hours of your application to confirm and guide you through the process.
Your right to belong to a union is protected by Section 23 of the South African Constitution and the Labour Relations Act. Employer interference with your union membership is illegal. NAWUSA will take immediate legal action on your behalf — including CCMA referral — at no cost to you.
Complete our secure online application form — it takes about 5 minutes. Alternatively, message us on WhatsApp at 083 334 2077 or download the PDF form from our Apply page. A membership officer will confirm your application within 48 hours.

When my employer tried to dismiss me without a fair hearing, NAWUSA was there within 24 hours. They handled everything — the CCMA referral, the hearing, all of it. I kept my job and received back pay. I tell every worker I know: join NAWUSA before you need them.
